GV: Dance is LoC-classified as part of Geography, Anthropology, and Recreation. Call numbers range between GV1580-1799.4. Music scores for dance are found in the appropriate place in Class M (Music). Music used to accompany dance instruction (ballet, folk dance, gymnastics) may be found under call numbers beginning with MT 950.
M: Music includes any and all music scores, individual and collected, including music for solo performance, chamber music, works for large ensemble, musical theater, ballet, and opera. Items in M may include recordings of accompaniment tracks. Call numbers range between M1-5000. Items in M may be reference works and as such not available for circulation.
ML: Literature on Music includes Music history, criticism, philosophy, reference works, and music librarianship. Call numbers range between ML1-3230. Items in ML may include recordings. Some of these titles are reference works and may be not available for circulation.
MT: Instruction and Study includes books on Music pedagogy, Music theory and history textbooks, instrumental and vocal Music method books, etude books, and play-alongs. In some cases, items in MT include recordings. Call numbers range between MT1-960.
Circulating titles for Music and Dance are located in the 4th floor stacks; titles for younger readers may be found in the Curriculum Collection on the 2nd floor; reference titles for Music and Dance are located in the 2nd floor reference area.
