Langston Hughes Memorial Library in the Era of Visual Learning

The pandemic has not allowed us the opportunity for regular in-person service for over a year. However, that hasn't hindered us from serving our students and other patrons. Langston Hughes Memorial Library is now providing services remotely and access to millions of physical resources that could no longer be delivered in-person are now available online.

To provide remote assistance, a "Chat" platform has been implemented to allow patrons to chat "live" with library staff during normal business hours. Lincoln University students, faculty, administrators, as well as staff, are all entitled to our library remote services regardless of where they are physically located.

Living our lives in a physically distanced way is challenging. We need other people and often measure our relationships by how “close” we are. How can we stay physically and emotionally well when we are apart? How can we safely talk about COVID-19 and vaccination and make sure no one is left behind in those conversations? COVID-19 is probably the most significant global crisis of any of our lifetimes. The numbers involved have been stupefying, whether they speak of infection and mortality, the scale of public health measures such as mobility restrictions, or the economic consequences for unemployment and public sector spending

Cleaning and frequently disinfecting your home
Avoid contact with the face whenever in public or shared space.

Face coverings, often called masks, can help stop your germs from infecting others. Research has shown that wearing masks reduces the risk of infection, especially when combined with other prevention efforts such as washing your hands often and staying 6 feet away from others.

The social distancing state and local guidelines is 6ft.

What should I expect living on campus during a pandemic

Creating the "Den"

Creating the “Den” is the first step to providing a safe and protected environment for the Lincoln University family – students, faculty, staff – as well as visitors who may have to enter our “Den.” Our goal is to create a campus where everyone can be assured that we are all committed to doing everything we can to ensure as much as possible that the safety of our “Den” is not compromised.
As a general rule, all those entering the campus will be required to abide by basic COVID risk mitigation such as wearing face coverings, social distancing, and washing of hands.
In addition, important specific protocols governing campus residency have been established for move-in and throughout the spring semester.

Quarantine
Individuals who are exposed to a positive case (identified through contact tracing) are required to quarantine based on their vaccination status.
